Job Summary

The HR Specialist - Employee Relations will be responsible for creating personnel documentation including disciplinary action forms and separation documents. This role will maintain and update reports, assist in investigations in conjunction with the Legal team and stakeholders, and collaborate with other departments on process improvements. This position will report to the Senior HR Manager – Employee Relations.

Essential Functions

  • Support Employee Relations department with administrative functions including preparing templates, updating reporting, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures
  • Liaise with HR Administration for all employee transactions including promotions, transfers, anniversaries, etc.
  • Participate in employee investigations and exit meetings, and assist the department with disciplinary actions and performance management measures
  • Maintain responsibility for reviewing gaps or areas requiring attention, including workflows
  • Review investigation outcomes, disciplinary action reports, and/or other data sources to identify trends
  • Provide support to regional Employee Relations teams in the Regional Distribution Centers
  • Collaborate and consult with HR business partners and other departments (Benefits, Compensation & Classification, & Legal)
  • Other duties, tasks, and work as may be assigned

Required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • General knowledge of HRIS systems
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information and data from multiple sources and summarize investigative findings concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a highly professional manner and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituent groups such as senior management and peers

 

 

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 2 - 4 years of human resources experience

 

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated more than half the time
  • The person in this position may need to move about the store(s), distribution center(s), warehouse(s), and/or corporate office(s) less than half the time
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15 lbs.
  • This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors

 

Travel Requirements

  • This position commutes between regional offices/distribution centers less than 25% of the time within a day
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
